Summer Saturday Jazz: Brandi Disterheft

Canadian Grammy (JUNO) winning jazz bassist, singer and composer Brandi Disterheft returns to the stage with her intoxicating “Bossa Nova Jazz” project charting on the top 10 Jazz Charts with her new album “Surfboard” featuring jazz master George Coleman and reflects this “double threat’s” innovative live show showcasing a prodigious and rhythmic dexterity on her bass fiddle that is transcended by her ambient and sultry voice. Having mentored under Miles Davis’ bassist Ron Carter and performing classics from the Bossa Nova 1960’s jazz craze of Carlos Jobim to the American Songbook arranged in her trio’s unique fashion, Brandi’s music is “a fount of irresistible propulsion and ever-surprising rhythmic colors and contours,” – Jazztimes.
