Our commitment to sustainability touches every part of the guest experience. Through partnerships with organizations like Hotels for Trees, Surfrider Eastern Long Island, and Kiss the Ground, we are proud to support global reforestation, community beach cleanups, and environmental education. On property, we’ve eliminated single-use plastics, introduced bamboo room keys, implemented refillable amenities, and embraced energy-efficient systems. Our Chef’s Garden and local sourcing at Good Ground Tavern highlight our dedication to fresh, sustainable dining, while initiatives like EV charging, food waste reduction, and water conservation further reduce our footprint. From thoughtful amenities to inspiring environmental film screenings, every effort reflects our belief that hospitality should nurture both people and the planet.

 

Our current initiatives include:

  • Hotels for Trees Partnership: Each booking supports global reforestation efforts through our proud collaboration with Hotels for Trees
  • Eliminating Single-Use Plastics: We’ve removed single-use plastics from all guest rooms and introduced bamboo room keys as a renewable, eco-friendly alternative.
  • Refillable Amenities: Large-format, refillable bath amenities reduce waste without compromising on luxury.
  • Organic Chef’s Garden: Our on-site organic garden supplies fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables to Good Ground Tavern, minimizing our environmental footprint.
  • Locally Sourced Ingredients: Good Ground Tavern proudly partners with local farms and fisheries, bringing fresh, seasonal flavors to your table.
  • EV Charging Stations: Electric vehicle charging stations are available for guests, supporting greener travel choices.
  • Guest Refillable Water Bottles: Complimentary refillable water bottles encourage sustainability during your stay.
  • Food Waste & Packaging Initiatives: At Good Ground Tavern, we are actively reducing food waste and using sustainable packaging whenever possible.
  • Energy Efficiency: Energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems are installed throughout the property to minimize energy use.
  • Beach Cleanups: Our team participates in regular beach cleanups in partnership with Surfrider Eastern Long Island Chapter. 
  • Support for Local & Environmental Causes: We proudly support local farms, fisheries, and environmental organizations making a difference right here on the East End.
  • Conserving Water Resources: Linens and towels are refreshed every third day for multi-night stays, significantly reducing water usage.
  • Environmental Film Screenings: As part of our Front Row Series, Canoe Place proudly partners with the Surfrider Eastern Long Island Chapter and Kiss the Ground to host powerful environmental film screenings. We’ve featured impactful documentaries such as Plastic People and Common Ground, creating space for education, conversation, and community action.
